Top Six Organizational Tips for Health Insurance Agents

Sales is a challenging job, so you need all the help you can get! Try some or all of our top organizational tips to help you improve productivity and efficiency:

Stay Organized With Technology: Take advantage of technology to help you stay organized. There are many different apps to choose from or use your agency’s management system. If you do not know how to use the technology to your advantage, find a quick YouTube or How-To article online to help you optimize the technology. Spending a few minutes to learn upfront will help you in the long run.

Make a Daily To-Do List: Keep daily call lists and To-Do lists. Checking off tasks once completed can help motivate you to do more – and the list will help you organize your day. Consider adding time limits to the tasks and schedule your daily calls during blocks of time to minimize disruptions.

Get on Top of Leads Right Away: Keep track of your leads and get on top of them immediately. This is both a good organization and a sales tip. Make a list of your leads, or use a spreadsheet to move them through your sales funnel. If you work leads promptly, you will be better able to organize them by interest or status, which can increase your productivity and reduce duplicate work.

Delegate Non-Sales-Related Tasks: If you can, shift your non-sales-related tasks to someone else in your office. Is there an admin person who can help with things like filing or managing customer records? Delegating tasks that waste your time to others can help you stay more organized and productive. And if the task is not directly sales-related, it often should be performed by another team member anyway.

Schedule Sales Campaigns in Advance: Plan your social media posts, blogs, and customer reach-outs in advance. Use a calendar system to organize your sales campaigns for the year, making sure to connect with customers at pivotal moments like renewals. Having a calendar ready for the year – and following it – goes a long way toward increasing your organization and reducing your stress.

Maintain a Goal-Oriented Mindset. You spent time developing your goals for the year, so make sure to stay focused on them. Set objectives to hit your key results and remind yourself often of your goals. Performing frequent goal check-ins can help you stay the course, keeping organized by focusing on the goals you identified for yourself and your business. Setting time-bound goals is one way to keep yourself organized while still working toward long-term success.
